Partners

NBSN partners with local agencies in order to further our mission. Below you will find links to these organizations and some examples of the work in which we've shared.

Seattle Public Utilities

Seattle Public Utilities has been a great supporter of NBSN, providing funding for promotional efforts in Curbwaste, Northwest Home and Garden Magazine, KUOW underwriting, Tearsheet production, and this website.

The City Of Seattle

The City of Seattle has contracted with the members of NBSN for "waste" building material removal. We coordinate with City departments to collect surplus reusable building materials otherwise destined for our region's waste stream. It is just one more piece of a City-wide effort to divert reusable building salvage from the dump.

Department of Planning and Development

Both NBSN and DPD are concerned with the tremendous amount of salvageable waste generated through DPD permitted remodel and demolition projects. Currently, NBSN members are working with a coalition of DPD administrators to impact this problem and further the City's progressive initiatives to reduce waste, promote green building and cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Department of Ecology

In 2003, the founding members of NBSN came together under a grant sponsored by the Department of Ecology entitled Reusable Building Materials for Construction Industry Professionals. The goal of the grant was to "improve the awareness of contractors and the building public to the existence and the availability of reusable building materials". Throughout the term of the grant NBSN members conducted direct outreach to building trade professionals and the building public through print advertising, in-store and web-based surveys, and a Used Building Materials Guide.
