Reuse Ideas Page

Used building materials can be used in a variety of applications, from art to artful reistallation. We hope the examples below provide you with inspiration.

This coat tree was made by an Earthwise employee using hooks, door knobs and a cupboard door!

Another great reuse idea from a talented Earthwise customer. Elements used: pressed ceiling tin tile, mirror

This chalkboard is ready to hang in your kitchen and was built with salvaged materials by an Earthwise customer. Elements used: single paned window, chalkboard slate, chalk tray molding
This kitchen and hallway were completely redesigned to be functional and creative showpieces of salvaged materials. In the kitchen, salvaged cabinets and counters are complemented by found art such as paneling made from yardsticks and refrigerator art made from soda bottle caps.

The hallway boasts myriad salvage finds, including all of the fir trim and stairtreads (and even the cat). Designed and built by David Chatt and Ron Cole , Second Use customers.
The hut and patio chair were built almost entirely with salvaged materials: including doors, windows, lumber, trim, and shingles. The materials bring character to the pieces and help give them the perfect ‘rustic look' for this setting. Built by Anna Iverson.

This bathroom is yet another colorful example of salvaged materials in the home. Reused tile and bathroom fixtures create a unique and inviting space. Designed and built by Sile Donnelly, Second Use customer.

Jim Barger of Greenleaf Construction picked up this HEAVY, tile mantle from the RE Store and did a great job reinstalling it, going as far as altering a foundation design to accommodate it.

What can you do with fir bleacher board from our very own school district? One RE Store regular built a carriage door plugging the bolt holes with the same material. A salvaged porthole is the right touch to this dramatic entrance

The finds of The RE Store field crew dictated this kitchen design. Elements from schools, homes and businesses include: gym flooring, cabinets, slate counters, copper backsplash-ceiling and bleacher trim. Marty Brennan, RE Store employee.
