My Pops and I Talking Money

I had a one on one talk to my father last night, but strangely it wasn’t like how it was before… as I remember correctly, it was usually a situation where he would keep on talking while I keep on asking questions, last night on the other hand was a different case. He said he was able to get some ample amount of money from his previous company, but instead spending them, he wants me to help him find good ways to invest his money. I gave him five options to choose from. First is to have a money-market account because it typically pays more than a savings account, but it is still FDIC insured so his money will be very safe there. At least, instead of waiting forever to get a good amount of interest for his money, his money will make money of its own with it. He could also try bonds, but of course, this will vary in rates and risk from 5% Treasury Department-backed bonds to 15% risky junk bonds. He has to still do to his research and also consider where the interest rates are moving. Another that he could try is to loan money, where he can earn 9% to 30% depending on the credit history of the person being lent to. Certificate of Deposit is also a good idea since they have better rates in there, and lastly, he can make use of foreign currency trading instead of investing in stock market. Money is faster and easier to get back if in case he loses some.

The Effect of the Economic Crisis to different companies in the US has been greatly felt as most companies around the country are doing their retrenchment process, where they do all sorts of cross cutting strategies and worst, they lay off a lot of people, leaving millions of Americans and non Americans jobless in this time of needy situations. This only goes to show that even the countries in the first world are not immune to such crisis.

Right now, every single eyes in the world are looking at the stock market situation of the United States. Every single countries around the world with good or bad intentions are waiting for what is going to happen next, especially right now that a new president has already been inaugurated in to position. Everyone is virtually asking for his aid to have them crossed this flaming river of confusion, but then again they fail to realize that Obama is only a human being and can only do so much. Everyone have to keep in mind that this can never be solved by only one man alone. It will definitely require help from all parts of the world to overcome this feat and all of us should think of proper ways to help the government, no matter what country we are living in.

Obama and the Present US

The world is currently waiting for things to happen as everyone around the globe watch how things will go with the US economy under Barack Obama. While his presidency connotes change in all aspects and levels in the American society, it also means that he is inheriting what can only be described as the second Great Depression in the history of the Unites States of America. What I fear the most here is to have the same ending as what we had before, being the onset of the war economy of World War II.

Now, I am confident that even before the elections have started, Obama already made plans of getting things in to positive perspective. What bothers me is he would have to do it simultaneously with all the current problems of the United States and getting used to the executive position all at the same time. I am confident that he can do it but the pressure would definitely go in to his head and we might see him getting overwhelmed with all sorts of things. I just hope that he can plan everything out for the sake of everyone in the US, as well as for the whole world.
