This recent economic slump has been hurting a lot of business sectors, as well as the ordinary households. Some offices ended up freeze hiring, downsizing and even worse, being bankrupt. I am lucky enough to be working in a stable finance company, plus the fact that I do blogging as a crash career. However, not everyone is as lucky as I am. My best friend Gilbert, for instance, has been hit by the dreaded recession. He just lost his job as a PR assistant because his company had to merge with one of the market leaders to survive the trend. Gilbert, who is a father of two right now, with his daughter graduating in college with a degree of Dentistry and the other one an incoming freshman, has gotten really desperate on how to survive during this time of need. He called me last night and told me that he finally landed a job as a merchandise manager for ADT Security System Company. The job seems good but did not sound convincing, except for the word manager. I could not blame him for accepting the job from ADT Security though, where he sells ADT home alarm to almost every area in the city because he really needs to provide for his family. It must not really be easy being a father, which is one of the reasons why I am still a bachelor up to now.
